PH Embassy Holds Learning Session on Surrogacy in Colombia

In celebration of National Women’s Month, the Philippine Embassy in Bogotá held a gender and development (GAD) learning session on the legal ecosystem surrounding the practice of surrogacy and assisted pregnancy in Colombia on 21 March 2026.

The GAD learning session was facilitated by Atty. Juan Felipe Rojas and Atty. Ivan Jimenez, legal experts with background in Colombian legislation and decisions of the Colombian Constitutional Court relating to regulating the rights and duties of parties engaging in surrogacy and assisted pregnancy. The event was attended by members of the Filipino community and the Embassy team.

In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Adrian Bernie Candolada underscored the importance of such learning sessions to allow the Embassy team to understand and navigate the legal landscape of the host country, in order to better serve the Filipino community through the consular and assistance-to-nationals services of the Embassy.
