The Philippine Embassy in Colombia donated a replica of the 1734 Murillo Velarde Map to the Academia Diplomática Augusto Ramírez Ocampo of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Colombia in celebration of the 80th year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Colombia.

The Velarde Murillo Map was received by Director Harol González Duque from Ambassador Adrian Bernie Candolada, and the donation was witnessed by officials from the Asia Directorate and the Cultural Affairs Directorate of the MFA.

The 1734 Murillo Velarde Map is the earliest known scientifically-rendered map of the Philippines and the donated replica will form part of the Colección Cartográfica Patrimonial (Cartographic Heritage Collection) of the MFA. #
