PHILIPPINES, COLOMBIA SIGN MOU ON TOURISM COOPERATION

The Philippines and Colombia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Tourism Cooperation on 18 June 2026 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism (MINCIT) of the Republic of Colombia in Bogotá.

Ambassador Adrian Bernie Candolada represented the Department of Tourism of the Republic of the Philippines in the signing ceremony, and Minister Diana Marcela Morales Rojas of MINCIT signed it for Colombia.

The signing was witnessed by Director Catalina Diana Davila Suarez of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ (MFA) Asia, Africa, and Oceania Directorate, as well as representatives from the MFA Directorate of International Cooperation and the Presidential Agency on International Cooperation (APC Colombia).

Given their socio-cultural and economic dynamism, both the Philippines and Colombia view the MOU as an effective instrument for advancing people-to-people ties. The MOU covers six major areas of cooperation including research, education and upskilling, tourism promotion and investment, and sustainability.

The signing of the MOU also coincided with the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Colombia this year.  END
