PHILIPPINE EMBASSY AND COLOMBIA DIPLOMATIC ACADEMY EXPLORE JOINT INITIATIVES TO CELEBRATE 80 YEARS OF PHL-COL RELATIONS

On 3 February 2026, Ambassador Adrian Bernie Candolada of the Philippine Embassy in Colombia met with Mr. Harol González Duque of the Augusto Ramírez Diplomatic Academy of the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to explore potential joint academic and cultural initiatives to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the formal establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Colombia (1946-2026).

In August 2025, a lecture was hosted by the Diplomatic Academy featuring a Filipino history professor interfacing with a Colombian counterpart to tackle parallels in the shared colonial past of the Philippines and Colombia. The Philippine Foreign Service Institute and the Colombian Diplomatic Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2015.
